Dementia Policy and Resource Guide Development
The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories seeks to enhance public policy awareness and support for individuals experiencing dementia, their care partners, and seniors. This project involves conducting comprehensive research on existing public policies affecting these groups, identifying gaps or challenges they face, and understanding the pinch points in current support systems. The goal is to utilize this research to develop a practical and informative resource for government staff who regularly handle constituent complaints and concerns. This resource will empower them with knowledge about dementia supports and resources available through the Alzheimer Society, ensuring they can effectively redirect and assist constituents in need. By bridging the information gap, this project aims to improve the quality of support and advocacy for those affected by dementia.
Manager Training and Resource Portal Development
The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories seeks to enhance the professional development of its managerial staff by creating a centralized training and resource portal. This project aims to streamline access to essential training materials and resources, ensuring managers have the tools they need to excel in their roles. The portal will serve as a one-stop-shop for training documents, development resources, and other relevant materials. By consolidating these resources, the organization hopes to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement among its management team. The project will involve gathering existing resources, creating new training documents, and organizing them into an easily navigable digital platform. This initiative will not only improve managerial efficiency but also contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization.
Diversity & Inclusion Training
Our company has dozens of employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We want to create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued. We would like to collaborate with students to create diversity and inclusion training This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Conducting a needs analysis Defining diversity goals and objectives for our organization and the training. Creating diversity and inclusion training appropriate for our sector Roll out plan of training for current and new employees Bonus steps in the process would also include: Identifying this training as part of a larger diversity and inclusion strategy. Providing training evaluation for trainees
Redesigning a Human Resources Performance Evaluation
As the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT grows, it is important to stay up to date with the industry’s evolving human resources practices to manage our employees effectively. In this project, students will design a preliminary model of a new performance evaluation system that emphasizes our company goals, and draws a focus to our main challenges that staff are facing. Tasks include: Speaking to current employees and management to determine the needs and challenges of our organization for a performance management system. Researching performance management options that may suit the needs of our team, focusing on measurability and reliability. Establishing a rollout plan that outlines how our organization will transition to using a new performance management system. Using a weighted decision matrix to decide on a method based on factors such as efficiency, user-friendliness, measurability, reliability, and cost- effectiveness.

Alzheimer's Society Organizational Scan
The Alzheimer's Society is currently in formalizing processes for the organization, especially around policies and procedures. We would be interested in students perspectives and recommendations on our current state and on the future direction with regards to a DEI policy and/or strategy. Developing onboarding procedures would also be valuable. The final deliverables would be in the form of a report and/or presentation
