Analyzing Organizational Practices through the lens of Emotional Intelligence and DEI Principles

Students participating in this project will: Apply emotional intelligence and DEI frameworks to evaluate organizational practices. Conduct document and policy analysis, reviewing job postings, hiring practices, training manuals, and other publicly available materials. Identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities to enhance leadership effectiveness, inclusivity, and workplace culture. Deliver actionable, research-informed recommendations that help organizations integrate EI and DEI principles into leadership and HR processes. This experience matches final-year MBA Graduate students specializing in HR Strategy with clients who would benefit from in depth analysis around an HR process. Students will collaborate with industry professionals over a 6-7 week period starting October 18th 2025, culminating December 6th 2025. Learners will apply their knowledge of HR metrics analysis, strategy development, and recruitment benchmarking to provide valuable insights to organizations. The focus is on aligning HR strategies with business objectives, enabling students to offer data-driven recommendations that enhance organizational effectiveness without direct implementation. Students will meet with you during the week of October 18th to align with you on what will be most impactful to your business, and to align on the work that they will undertake over the next 6-7 weeks. Students will meet with you during the week of November 1st 2025 to provide their initial findings and propose their direction/topic for the final deliverable, based on your business needs. Students will present you with a final report on the agreed upon topic, and present their findings and recommendations for future action during the week of December 6th - 12.

Students in teams of five (each with a team lead) from University Canada West will develop an action plan that addresses a leadership or management challenge currently faced by your organization. Based on the information you provide, consultant teams will deliver an action plan that accounts for your unique circumstances and outlines a path to a more engaged and productive team.

Thriving your small business with UCW MBA capstone

Are you experiencing challenges or seeing opportunities for your organization in relation to business development and growth, strategy, marketing, operations, or so? Graduate-level students at University Canada West (UCW) are here to help , who are in the final year of their MBA, and oftentimes bring along extensive industry experience as well. Over the course of the term, students will work with you to conduct organizational diagnosis to identify challenges and opportunities facing your organization, prepare a project proposal that addresses your objectives and needs, and give insights and recommendations as informed by thorough analysis for your organization. The deliverables typically include presentations (e.g., for proposal, progress update, and final) and a professional write-up. We are looking to collaborate with businesses that meet the following criteria: 1. The business should be a legally registered and ongoing small business . A new start-up or business is welcome. 2. The business should be based in Canada (P.S. For UCW is based in Vancouver, BC, business with operation and/or customer/supplier connections in Vancouver or BC could be additionally benefited). 3. The business owner should be willing to work with up to 4-6 student groups (around 3-5 students per group) throughout the duration of the term. Communication would mostly be conducted on Riipen. 4. The business owner should be willing to spend approximately an hour per week (on average) speaking with students, responding to their queries, etc. 5. For the purpose of confidentiality and data privacy, it is expected that the business owner will provide a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) form that students and the business owner will sign. 6. If the business owner agrees to the points mentioned above, the business owner will have an initial virtual meeting through a video call with the course instructor. The course instructor will discuss the details of the course, expectations, etc., and will answer any questions or concerns of the business owner.
